CHILDREN’S INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Explanatory note and structure of the Course
Program on Pediatrics, Module “Children’s infectious diseases” was created for specialities “General Medicine” 7.110101, “Paediatrics” 7.110104, “Prophylactic Medicine” 7.110105 of the area of training 1101 “Medicine” in accordance with the educational-qualifying characteristics and educational-professional programs of preparing of specialists, ratified by the order of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine N 239 from 16.04.03, as well as by the educational plan of specialists training of educational-qualifying characteristics, ratified by the order of the Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine N 119 from 25.03.2005.
The term of studying in these specialities lasts for 6 years. The ultimate goals of disciplines are identical; therefore the united program on module “Children’s infectious diseases” for these disciplines was created.
The peculiarities of child’s infectious diseases study are that besides of etiology, clinical features, diagnostics and treatment principles of different pathologies students should get skills of differential diagnostics. Due to the knowledges which students have got in previous years of study and which they’ll get during present year they should be able to find similar and different between diseases and to put the correct diagnosis by the way of excluding. The child’s infectious diseases course for the 6-th year students is composed from the practical classes, and self-work themes.
According to the curriculum the study of Children’s infectious diseases is carried out during the 6nd year (semester IX-X).
The program is structured into the 1 module, content modules, themes in accordance with the requirements of “Recommendations on the development of educational disciplines” (Order of the Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine, N492 from 12.10.2004).
Subject contains 57 hours: 0 – lectures, 42 – practical classes, and 14 – students’ individual work.

The final goal of learning of the discipline “Children’s Infectious Diseases” consists in the fact that students in their future careers should be able to:
1. To determine the etiologic and pathogenetic factors of the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
2. To classify and analyze the typical clinical picture of the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
3. To determine the features of diseases and put a preliminary clinical diagnosis.
4. To make the plan of inspection and analyze information of laboratory and instrumental inspections in case of typical course of the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
5. To demonstrate the domain principles of treatment, rehabilitation and prophylaxis of the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
6. To diagnose and give the urgent help in case of the main urgent situations at the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
7. To perform differential diagnostics and put a preliminary diagnosis in case of the typical duration of the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
8. To perform prognosis estimation at the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
9. To demonstrate the domain morally–deontological principles of the medical specialist and principles of professional rank deference.
10. To determine the etiologic and pathogenetic factors of the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
11. To determine prophylactic and contra epidemic measures on the most widespread infectious diseases of the child’s age.
